The ten-year-old girl, named Sophia , has created a painting titled , “the Tree of Peace", symbolizing her fervent desire to see an end to the conflicts tearing her family apart. Sophia Tarutani , born in Kobe on May 26, 2014, has always had a passion for drawing. Her father, a Japanese monk, and her Ukrainian mother, witness the ravages of war, particularly through the suffering of her Russian grandmother. Despite her young age, Sophia deeply feels the need to do something to bring a little peace to this troubled world.

That's why she asked her monk father to accompany her in meeting the Pope and presenting him with her painting, hoping that this symbolic act could spread a breath of peace in the hearts of men. The chosen date for this meeting, April 24th, symbolizes the beginning of a new era of understanding and reconciliation for Hana and her family.
